Yalanda Matthews

2023-2024 President

Experienced, trustworthy and driven. These are just a few of the ways that classmates describe this invaluable member of our team. She graduated from our alma mater in 1989. During her years at Kirby High, Yalanda was a member of the Championship Cougarette Team in which they won the 1989 National Dance Team Competition in Orlando, FL. She also held reign as the 1989 Winter Festival Queen. Yalanda also graduated from the University of Memphis where she earned a Bachelor of Science degree in Health Studies with a concentration in Health Sciences. Yalanda Matthews is truly inspirational and is determined to keep this association active for the good of the Kirby Cougar Community.

An invaluable part of the Kirby High School Alumni Association staff and leadership, Derick Fulson Sr. has witnessed the continued evolution of our programs from that start. Derick has served in this role for over 3 years and has made a lasting impression on the current student body and staff of Kirby High School. The Association appreciates his unselfish commitment towards making this association a worthy cause for giving back.

Arias L. Heard

We welcome Arias L. Heard (C/O '88) to the team. As a Kirby Cougar, Arias graduated in the top ten of her class ranking #4. She was a scholar student and went on to college earning a Bachelor of Science degree in Electric Engineering and as well as earning an MBA with a concentration in Project Management. She is a certified Project Management Professional. Arias will be a part of the Association from afar (Columbus, OH) updating the website with the most recent information to share with our viewers.
